Would you like to give 100 copies of Mission:Explore to kids?

March 19, 2011

Mission:Explore book coverWe at The Geography Collective invest all of the royalties from our first Mission:Explore book in free copies for kids who can’t afford or would never usually be given a copy of the book. With the additional and kind support of Can of Worms Kids Press (our publisher) we are able to pass on one book for every eight sold.

We’ve got 100 books to be given to children and are are looking for a person or organisation to distribute them in an interesting way. They are worth a total of £599 and we want to make sure they get put to good use. To decide who is going to get them we are going to run a vote. Here is how it works.

1. Register your idea

Register an idea of how you are going to distribute the books on this form. You can enter as many as you like but it must be done before Friday 25th of March at 23:59 (GMT).

2. Selection

We will select a number of final ideas which will go forward to a public vote. These will simply be the ones that we like the most.

3. Vote

Between 28th and 31st of March voting will be open.

4. Winner announced!

On April 1st we will announce on this blog which idea has won.

Want to enter? Just click here.

Terms: Delivery is not included, the winner will be responsible for organising collection/delivery of the books, probably from London. Any private informationSplat! entered into this form will not be shared with any third parties and will only be used for contacting you about this ‘competition’. By sharing your idea here you give us permission to publish it in any format in publicity connected to this competition. If you win the books we will asked you to write a little report on what happened to them.

I would love to but can’t afford to get the books from London :-( Living up here in Cumbria we are in such a great place to explore geography so would have been ideal..

    Hi Lakes Mum!

Well, we’re not in any rush. If you win we can keep hold of the books until you or someone you know heads south.. or until one of us heads north. One of us is likely to come to the Lakes in the next few months. We can be creative anyway – so register an idea and we can deal with the ‘red tape’ later!

    Hi Lakes Mum
Calling from the publishers here. We have a few Cumbria based farmer friends, Peter Gott for example, who sell down at the Borough Market and am sure that I could persuade them to take books up. So get your Idea in and who knows you might just get them delivered with some Cumberland Sausage (now that it has received Geographical Protection we can be certain that books sent to the home of Cumberland Sausage will indeed go to Cumberland). Mission Explore on the other hand of course is not geographically protected but geographically liberating. So hurry up with that idea so people can vote!
