Cycle Closer to Nature
Cycle Closer to Nature with your kids this holiday
Looking for something new to do with your children over the summer holidays? Mission:Explore have come to the rescue with a new trail of challenges to try in:
-
Bristol
-
Cardiff
-
Doncaster
-
Exeter
-
Leeds
-
Leicester
-
Reading
-
Stroud
-
York
-
or anywhere on the National Cycle Network.
Cycle Closer to Nature is their latest game and an opportunity to jump on your bike, get some exercise and explore wild places. A little like a treasure hunt, Cycle Closer to Nature involves reading challenges to complete on the MissionExplore.net website before going outdoors to complete them. In each city these are spread along National Cycle Network routes.
Some of the mission activities you can do locally include:
-
uncovering secrets,
-
creating art,
-
doing experiments
-
searching for where photos have been taken,
-
attempting challenges.
Daniel Raven-Ellison from Mission:Explore explains that “this new game is all about exploring outdoors and discovering nature. Children who take part won’t just enjoy themselves but also get some exercise, enjoy traffic-free cycle paths and connect with nature in new ways.”
Cycle Closer to Nature has been made with the support of Arla’s Kids Closer to Nature Campaign, Sustrans, the Technology Strategy Board, Ideas in Transit and Ordnance Survey.
Taking part is free and you can even win one of many prizes including an underwater camera. You can contact us Twitter at @MissionExplore.

Cycling is not only a great exercise for the body but it is good for the environment as well. Thank you for such a wonderful idea.
